Google first unwrapped its Chrome OS to the press last week and released a preview code to the developer community. The official final release won’t be ready for end of next year, however many enthusiast sites already ported the code to a bootable form and made it public consumable.

image The coolest thing is Dell seems to jump on this project quicker than any other OEM to offer an customized image of Chrome OS  to its Mini 10v netbook users.

The downloadable image is available HERE. Upon completion, You need to dump the image to an at least 8GB USB stick. Linux users can the Linux command dd if=ChromiumOS_Mini10v_Nov25.img of=/dev/sdb (assuming your drive mounts as /dev/sdb/).

You are ready to embark on your Google Chrome OS journey!

Dell’s Doug Anson warns a minor problem to detect a WiFi access point with this image. The OS might take 5 to 10 minutes to detect one, but the OS boots very fast.

Show Note #011 Black Friday – Thứ Sáu Đen

Xbox Gets Social

If you are 18 or older and a proud owner of an Xbox 360, Microsoft just opened up social networking feature with Facebook, Zune Video, Twitter and Last.FM  integration.

 • image The Facebook integration lets you update your status to share details about what movie you’re watching or game you’re playing. It also acts as a Facebook application, letting you see your friends’ status updates, the News Feed, and new photos your friends have posted. And best of all, you can now see which of your Facebook friends are on Xbox LIVE so you can friend them there, too.
 • With Twitter, you can post and reply to tweets, view profiles, watch trends, and do Twitter searches. Both Facebook and Twitter will appear in the new “My Community” channel on your Xbox dashboard.
•, which will be under the Music channel, lets you love, ban, or skip tracks. There’s also a “gamer stations” section which offer game-related music for the U.S. and U.K. gamer communities.

In addition, Microsoft also integrated Zune HD to access to video (rented / purchased) from Xbox.

To get the update, just turn on your console and log into Xbox LIVE with your Gold membership. If you only have a Silver membership, you can demo the new features for free from November 20th until the 23rd.

Note: The update is only available to members over the age of 18 for now. Here’s why.

TweetDeck for iPhone V1.1.1 – Now with Added Awesome

image This morning, the updated TweetDeck app for the iPhone is available now from the AppStore. TweetDeck V1.1.1 remains free. Many useful enhancements are included. My favorites: Landscape input; Frequent Hashtags are stored; Update from single window to multiple accounts and the ability to upload 12s video (iPhone 3G S only).

Here’s a rundown from the developer team of some of the great new features we have for you in this release :

Facebook integration: You can now access your Facebook account as well as your Twitter account to ensure you always stay connected with your friends while mobile. Add Facebook columns, update your status, write on your walls, comment & like… all from within the app.
Video uploading: You can now share videos while on the move. The TweetDeck app allows you to send a videos to both Twitter and Facebook thanks to the built-in 12 Seconds functionality. You can take a video direct with the camera in your iPhone 3GS, or upload a video already stored on your phone. Just remember that any video uploaded will be truncated after 12 seconds to keep things simple.
Landscape compose mode: Need a bigger keyboard when composing your updates? Switch to the landscape keyboard and type away!
Trending Topics: Always be up to date with what’s hot in the Twitterverse with the new Twitter trends feature. You can now view the Twitter trending topics in the app and can quickly create a search column to track the tweets that are hitting the big time right now.
Tweets Nearby column: You will always know when your Twitter friends are close, thanks to the new Tweets Nearby column. Using the GPS in your iPhone you can view tweets from everyone within a configurable range of your current location.
Address Picker: You’ll never again have to struggle to type @replies correctly, thanks to the new address picker function. One touch will bring up a list of your most active friends. Touch the name of the friend you want to @reply to and their ID will be added to your tweet.
Save Draft: Need to make a phone call or check your email while composing an epic update? Just touch Cancel then Save to keep your message as a draft. Next time you return to the compose window your masterpiece will still be there waiting to be completed.
Open in Safari: Do you ever wish that you could open links direct in the iPhone Safari browser? Well now you can. Just open the link as normal then touch the Safari button to close TweetDeck and open the web page in you iPhone’s browser instead. account support: You can now add your account details into the iPhone app just like you can in the desktop version. This allows you to ensure all links that you shorten through the iPhone TweetDeck are stored in your own account.

These are just some of the highlights from a long list of update, new features and fixes that have been built into v1.1 of the iPhone app.  You can check out the full changelog here.

v1.1.1 of TweetDeck for the iPhone is available in the AppStore here.

Google Enhances Search for Movie Goers

There are so many benefits carrying a smartphone when it comes to find a restaurant or movie to see. Of course they all have an app for that. But the most ubiquitous search engine Google, today launched a new Web-based mobile version that should greatly simplify the planning of a trip  to the movies.

Just go to in the web browser on your iPhone, Palm WebOS, or Android-powered device, (no Windows Mobile nor Blackberry mentioned, but it should work fine) search for "movies", and then tap on the "More movies" link.

After a quick approval request from you to use your location, you can either browse a list of movies or select the "Theaters" button to browse a list of theaters near you.

From Google Blog: The new movie listings page now includes buttons to play trailers right on your phone, ratings and categories, movie posters, upcoming showtimes, and a concise list of the nearest theaters and their distances from you. We keep information on this page succinct so you can quickly browse through shows and showtimes to help you decide which movie to see. If you want more details about a specific movie, just touch the poster or movie title and you’ll see our new movie details page that has a synopsis of the movie, a more detailed list of showtimes, the cast and crew, and pictures.

When you browse by theater, you’ll see a map of the theaters nearest to you. Then, just tap on the link to any particular theater to see what shows are playing there and what times they’re playing. Of course, you can also search for specific movies or theaters and see their listings right away. Try searching for recent movies like "New Moon" or "Where the Wild Things Are" or search for "glendale 18 los angeles".
