Apple iPad Charging Woes

image Many new iPad owners (among about 700,000 reportedly) took the new toy home and found out quickly that they are unable to charge the device  when plugging in the USB port of their computer, USB hubs or car chargers.

Apple Tech Support has told us that the iPad is designed for the 10W AC adapter that comes with it  and alternatively the iPad will charge on newer Macs with high capacity USB 2.0 ports (1.0A as minimum).

For now, the original 10W AC adapter is the safest and quick charging method for your new iPad. The WiFi only version, as we stated before, is ideal for couch surfing, the limitation shouldn’t be a big deal when you are at home, the 3G capable versions, however would be headache to road warriors.

(I remember we had similar issue with the Dell Axim X51v’s limited charging options)
