RIM to Launch Blackberry OS 6.0 Next Quarter

image RIM, the maker of the BlackBerry handsets, will release a its Blackberry OS 6.0 next quarter, Co-CEO Mike Lazaridis said today at a conference in Orlando, Florida

RIM seeks to position itself to compete with Apple iPhone, Google Android and the upcoming Microsoft Windows Phone 7.

The new OS will be “very familiar to anyone who’s used the BlackBerry,” he said. It will work on touch-screen devices like the Storm2 and traditional BlackBerry models with a keypad. Sorry for the trackball devices!

Earlier last week BGR posted few screenshots showing a better browser with Webkit rendering engine , multi-touch capability, a better media player .

    I hope RIM will be successful with this OS. They have to be creative and have to work hard to be competitive. RIM is setting sights on 100 millions users. http://viewer.zoho.com/docs/icLuaf
    However, I do not understand their sneak peek.
