Google is Introducing App Store for Web Apps

At the annual I/O event, Google is introducing its Web application store, where users can purchase or get link for Web apps.

I admit the concept is quite intriguing to us at first glance. As HTML5 emerges, Web Apps offers almost the look and feel of normal app. Users can actually drag, drop files from the device to the browser cache and the ability to work online as well as offline, etc..

“Once installed, a Web app gets a big icon in Google Chrome’s app launcher area, as well as some integration with the host OS,” Google explains in its documentation for the store. “When running, an installed Web app has a special frame and other UI enhancements to make the Web app easier to distinguish from other Web content.”

The line between your desktop and your browser is getting more blurry.   The app store will be built in to Google Chrome browser and forthcoming Chrome OS. We will have to get used to this new paradigm.
