Apple’s Christmas in October

Totally unexpected, Apple surprised us today with new 27” iMac, new more affordable Macbooks, new Mac Mini and a multi-touch support mouse called "Apple Magic Mouse"

iMacs

The new iMac has  a 21.5-inch or 27-inch display with edge-to-edge glass covers nearly the entire front of the enclosure offering16:9 widescreen iMac display.

LED backlighting in the new iMac gives remarkable brightness and efficiency to the display without adding bulk to the overall thickness. The 21.5-inch iMac features 1920×1080 HD resolution. The 27-inch iMac.features  2560×1440 resolution. The iMac display is designed to look great from almost any angle. A technology called in-plane switching (IPS) makes this possible. Whether you’re sitting in front of the display or standing off to the side, you’ll get a perfect picture with superb color consistency and no loss of detail.

Storage-wise, both iMacs come with either a 500 or 1TB SATA drive or an optional (built-to-order) 2TB SATA drive. Like Apple’s latest notebook line, the new iMac also has a built-in SD card slot for easy transferring of pictures and other data. Finally, the iMacs come with a completely new wireless keyboard and the Magic Mouse. The 21.5-inch iMac starts at $1,199 and the 27-inch model starts at $1,699

Mac mini

imageThe new Mac Mini comes with either 2GB or 4GB of memory, and faster processors: a 2.26GHz or a 2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, with 1066MHz frontside bus, and 3MB of L2 cache.

The graphic gets the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics processor promises better gaming experience.

The latest 802.11n wireless technology is built into every Mac mini. as well as Bluetooth radio. Users can connect Bluetooth accessories such as a wireless keyboard and mouse. On the storage side, users can choose a 160GB, 320GB, or optional 500GB hard drive. The new Mac Mini prices are ranging from $599 to $999 depending on the configuration.

Macbook

imageA mere 1.08 inches thin and even lighter at 4.7 pounds, the sleek new MacBook cuts a slim profile on any desk (or in any backpack or briefcase). It features a new seamless, more durable unibody enclosure made of white polycarbonate shell.

The processors are carried over from the previous models a 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo processor in addition to the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M chipset with integrated graphics, on a 1066MHz frontside. 2GB SDRAM as default (up to 4GB max). 250GB, 320GB or 500GB SATA are available.

WiFi, Bluetooth and 1GB Ethernet are on board for network connectivity. The 13.3” display is LED -backlit supporting 1280×800  resolution. Price starting from $999

Apple Magic Mouse

image Forget the Mighty mouse, the new Magic mouse is touted as the first multi-touch device using Bluetooth connectivity.

The Multi-Touch area covers the top surface of Magic Mouse, and the mouse itself is the button. Scroll in any direction with one finger, swipe through web pages and photos with two, and click and double-click anywhere. Inside Magic Mouse is a chip that tells it exactly what you want to do. Which means Magic Mouse won’t confuse a scroll with a swipe. It even knows when you’re just resting your hand on it.  Price $69.
